Personality:
Ruthless, cunning and cruel, Bellatrix had been born a Black to the last drop of her pure blood. Out of the three Black sisters she had always been the one that cought other people's attention; rarely in a good way.
Arrogant, haughty and coming from one of the most influential families out there she had walked the Earth deeply convinced that she was better than anybody else. Even at school apart from her usual studies Bella begun to discover her deep fascination for the Dark Arts, they could give her power, power to control others, power to control masses and that was exactly what she craved for. Her parents, having a reputation of dark wizards themselves, looked upon it with kind eyes.
Still in her seventh year, over summer she had been finally comprehended what the nature of the Dark Arts was and begun to learn them with all her heart to it and she had learnt how to master dark spells and curses from no other but Lord Voldemort, himself. That was exactly when her religious adoration and fanatical devotion towards him developed and she became in all ways possible his 'most loyal, most faithful' servant.
After graduation she had joined the infamous Knights of Walpurgis that later on became Death Eaters, her inborn 'love' for inflicting pain upon others and fondness of the Cruciatus Curse made her one of the most dangerous, feared and at the same time sought after (by Aurors) Death Eater. Finally cought right after the downfall of the Dark Lord, she had been charged with the accusation of tormenting Longbottoms into madness.
Sent to Azkaban, she waited patiently until her Lord's return, hope and deep belief her only companions.
Her stay in prison left an undeniable mark on both her looks and mental state.
Even at school Bella apart from typical haughtiness of the Blacks carried an air of lethal insanity and Azkaban made it even more apparent. Voldemort does not trust any of his oh-so-loyal servants, but if he did Bellatrix would probably be the only one, she would kill anyone for him, literally and her loyalty does not come from fear but sick fascination, which is always a stronger bond.

Now, having left Azkaban quite a while ago she slowly recovers and regains some of her former glory; long, ebony hair that once had been her most precious treasure had obtained its thickness and shine once again. Her face is not as dreadfully thin and inhuman as it was when she left prison and you can clearly see her features instead of being taken aback by her ghostly appearance.

I know she's too young and all, but hey it's really hard to find someone post-Azkaban-looking in the century of plastic surgery. I always imagined Bellucci as young Bellatrix therefore let's just settle that she regained a little of her healthy looks when off Azkaban diet( you know, magic, lol j/k)
History:
Bellatrix Black was born on the eleventh of June.
Her parents, Cygnus Black and Druella Rosier, were both very proud people;; they were purebloods from England and Italy. Their marriage was arranged at the time of their births and they married only one year before Bella's birth. Bellatrix was not alone though; soon after her birth, she was greeted by her two sisters: Narcissa Black and Andromeda Black. Bella, being the eldest, protected her sisters and made sure that they resembled something closely to her. Narcissa was more of the fragile one while Andromeda was mroe rebellious. Still, Bella learned to deal with it and teach them everything she knew. They were all spoiled, getting what they wanted however they wanted so long as they understood that they were the higher class, the best of the best.
Bella always knew that she was destined to be great.
Her parents never really spent time with her, just taught her all they knew and made sure she had a proper upbringing. Only when something amiss happened did Bellatrix feel close to her distant parents. Her father usually was away, dealing with the filthy people he called 'mudbloods'. Her mother was busy with hosting parties and securing her daughters' lives while spreading the Black name. Although she mostly lived her life in 12 Grimmlaud Place, Bellatrix often spent her time in her home of birth. She liked sitting quietly and thinking, remeniscing upon old memories and taking delight in being a rich, pureblood. Her cousins, Sirius and Regulus, were often there to accompany her and they got along fairly well. Sirius was different from them though;; and at the tender age of seven, Bellatrix knew that she would no longer remain close with Sirius after Hogwarts began.
Bellatrix recieved her Hogwarts letter on a warm, crisp afternoon in August. Her family was hosting an afternoon tea celebration for her and Sirius, awaiting their letters of acceptance. There, the darling child of eleven mingled with all other pureblood children of importance; she took a liking to a particular Lestrange boy who seemed to be equal to her. When the letter finally came, a sweeping emotion settled into her soul. She was not quite the same afterwards. It seemed that her cousin, Sirius, was not quite the same either.
Her first year, Bella was sorted into Slytherin. It was expected, of course. Challenging everything and falling deeper into the craving darkness, she outwitted most of her peers and performed nasty hexes on those who offended her or her family name. It was different now; to her disappointment and her expectance, Bella found that her beloved cousin, Sirius, was sorted into Gryffindor. It was apalling and she forbade herself from acknowledging him. THe family was shamed and Sirius was treated differently. Her earliest feeling about him was confirmed. In her second and third years, Bella's sisters and other cousin- Regulus, began their years at Hogwarts. They were sorted into Slytherin as well, except for Andromeda; she was sorted into Ravenclaw. But no matter, that just proved she was of high intelligence and still better than others. Still... The Black Family became cautious and occasionally excluded the girl out of most things concerning her.
As her reputation for a dark girl grew, Bella's first through sixth years were spent bringing attention to herself and her family name. She was known to have her wand slip accidently with a horrendous curse at hand. BElla was the best at potions and charms, defense just as strongly. She was associated with many purebloods and particularly hung around with the Lestrange boys, Lucius Malfoy, and her sister. They spent their time trying to rule the school, making the lives of others unworthy miserable. When the Marauder's came to power, Bella feared it would get in the way of plans that were arranged in the summer of her sixth year. A Dark Lord was rising, one that would rid of the filthiness that burdened magick. Bellatrix admired this wizard, tasting the simplicaity of darkness that he brought with him. And she craved it... Longed for it.
Having graduated from Hogwarts she joined the Knights of Walpurgis alongside her husband-to-be Rodolphus Lestrange, becoming one of very few females that would turn into Death Eaters, not some regular Death Eaters as Bella shared passion for killing and instilling fear into her victims that could rival only other most valued and therefore sadistic Voldemort's servants.
However, her 'soft spot' for bringing torment and sadism had also involved her downfall, as after torturing a pair of well-known Aurors: Alice and Frank Longbottom, she, her husband, Rabastan Lestrange and Bartemius Crouch Jr. had been captured by Ministry workers and led to court when their trial was held. Each one of them had received a sentence for life in Azkaban that would have come true if not for the mass break-out that took place when the Dark Lord had finally regained his form and power.
The Lestranges came back from Azkaban to assist their Lord once again, taking part in the mission that was bound to get the Prophercy into Voldemort's hands. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the Prophecy had been smashed and therefore Bellatrix received humbly her punishment, whereas Lucius Malfoy had been sent to Azkaban.
