[align=center]Laguna Cove, California
Have you ever even been to Laguna Cove, California? Uhm, yeah. Didn't think so. But that's precisely what I'm here for, right? Exactly. To inform you on the basic going on's of our town, which, for future reference, is on the map, thank you very much. When you first meet someone and you they ask you where you're from, though sometimes it's impolite and sometimes it's completely innocent, and you fire back with a tentative Laguna Cove, chances are you'll gain one reaction. Oh! That's where that television show-- on MTV, was filmed, right?. Which could, quite possibly, be the most annoying retort you could get. People simply assume that there couldn't possibly be two Laguna's in California, when, in fact, there is. After a few dozen times of being fed this reply, you begin to shrug it off, let it roll off your shoulder and reply with a simple no. There are times when the clear illfated response can drive you up the wall, and you're left with nothing more than a blank stare. But Laguna Cove is not Laguna Beach. You see, Laguna Beach used to be just like the Cove, as kids around town call it. Filled with townies, simple old school hippies and surfers. Than? Bam. You throw in some high tech camcorders, a few camera whores and you're on the map. Laguna Cove has, luckily, been untainted by the glitz and glam of Hollywood, but that's not to say we're lacking in the wealth department.
they come from every state to find
some dreams are meant to be declined
tell the man what did you have in mind
that have you come to do
For most who've got a high paying job, along with a moderate sized family, Laguna Cove seems to be the perfect getaway. In the beginning of the towns existence, which I have no clue when that actually was, it was mostly just summer homes. As could be assumed, Laguna Cove is a coastal town, and therefore most had begun to simply migrate during the summer months, unassuming of the fact that no one, or at least no one who was actually from there, dressed for the seasons. Just the weather. Why? Simple. There really aren't any seasons in Laguna Cove, just a slight change in temperature all through the year. You have a moderate chill, a schorching summer, and a teensy bit hot fall. Nothing beyond fifty degress ever reaches our secluded little town. Though, if I'm going to be completely honest with you [which I am, of course] LC is a very clique-ish town. Exclusive, some might say. Everyone who's been around for a while, which is basically everyone, loathes change. Outsiders have begun to flock more and more often to our seaside town, and I have to admit, it can get old; and fast. But when you have a moderate sized town, filled to the brim with movie and music execs, not to mention a shitload of gossip-addicted mothers, you're bound to attract attention, right?
come and get it, lost it at the city limits
say goodbye cause they will find the way to trim it
everybody lookin' for a silly gimmick
gotta get away, can't take it for another minute
You know, now that I think about it, I might go so far as to say that Laguna Cove could be a miniature Hollywood. Minus the majority of drug addicts, prostitutes, wannabes and has beens. Most of our parents are under the illfated assumption that we're just perfect. Because that would be what it seemed on the outside, right? I guess it's a rightful assumption, but everything isn't as pristine as it may appear. We're just like any other teen generation. All about hook ups and parties, clinging to the next bit of juicy gossip and sitting on the beach flipping through glossy fashion magazines. Drama is a dime a dozen in this town, and I mean this in all honesty. You can almost smell out a transplant here, for more than one reason. First off, basically everyone knows everyone. If you don't know someone, your parents know their parents, and somehow we're all entwined in one way or another. Second? Well, everything about a native is easily distinquishable. We're more laid back than the rest of the country, or so we think. Everything is less of a stress here, for lack of a better description. Surfing is life, drugs aren't bad, and drama is outstanding. We're pretty simplistic, in all actuality. But, than again, we're not so much connected to the rest of the world. Laguna Cove is pretty small, meaning anything that goes on is everyone's business. That's not so wonderful.
tell me baby, what's your story
where you come from and where you want to go this time
tell me lover, are you lonely
the thing we need is never all that hard to find
you're so lovely, are you lonely?
or giving up on the innocence you left behind
Asforementioned, Surfing is not just a hobby, it's a lifestyle. Girls, boys, parents, children, whatever. If you don't surf? You're completely out of touch. Though, taking into consideration of the fact that basically everything in our town revolves around the ocean, and what you can do in it [which, believe you me, is way more than water sports,] it's no real surprise that surfing is such a big deal. But beyond that? I guess we do what teens do in every other town. Right? Sort of, but not really. Laguna Cove is a tiny piece of paradise for most, a coastal down with consistently pristine waters, gorgeous people, and tons of money. What more could you actually need? But it's easy to get sucked up in the darker side of things, as well. You have your gangs, your cholos, the barrios. Drive bys in the grittier parts of town, and honestly? Everything isn't as perfect as seen on the travel brochures. So, sure, maybe we're in our own little universe, which just so happens to revolve around surfing, teenage lust, your occasional illicit substances and a whole lot of questionable behaviour. Surely you wouldn't judge us on that, though, would you? Because, really. If you were here, there's no doubt you would easily succomb to the world that is Laguna Cove. So allow me to give you a proper welcoming to Laguna Beach were the beach is hot, the teens are beautiful, and there's always time for surfing.
